Princess Cruises is transforming the Horizon Court buffet on the new ROYAL PRINCESS with evening options such as a crab shack and fondue restaurant. The casual eatery also will get a pastry shop. Also new is the Ocean Terrace seafood bar, which will offer oyster shooters, fresh sushi and sashimi, shellfish cocktails, and smoked Balik salmon. Kate Middleton will christen the 3,600-passenger ship on June 13.
The ship’s new casual eating options are in addition to returning favorites, such as Alfredo’s pizzeria, which will feature a larger menu with Italian antipasti, soup and salads, calzones, pizza baguettes, baked pastas and desserts. Gelato, a new gelateria, will offer Italian-inspired gelato and ice cream. The returning International Café will offer international hot sandwiches, such as Cuban sandwiches and Mexican tortas, in addition to sweets.
Other additions to Horizon Court include “Grab & Go” breakfasts and, at lunch, a rotisserie, Japanese hibachi grill and stations featuring Asian, Mexican and Mediterranean fare. For dinner, the Horizon Court will feature themed events such as a German Beer Fest and a Gaucho Barbecue feast. The new Crab Shack includes crackers, bibs and buckets, while Fondues will serve three cheese fondues: classic Swiss with white wine, German cheese fondue with beer, and a French cheese fondue with champagne.
The new pastry shop will serve croissants and pastries during breakfast time, warm desserts and French patisserie at lunch, and cakes, flambes, tarts and a croquembouche, a tower of small cream puffs, in the evening. The poolside Trident Grill, which serves hot dogs, hamburgers and chicken sandwiches, during the day, will transform into a smokehouse-style barbecue each evening, serving chicken wings, Route 66 beef chili or Texas-style barbecue brisket.
